Nutrition Business Journal Honors Robert Orr and Steve Allen With Lifetime Achievement Awards and Calls for 2010 Business Achievement Award Nominations

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) -  Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) announces a call for nominations for its 2010 Business Achievement Awards. Thirteen categories are open to businesses and individuals that have made an impact in the natural products industry in 2010. Winners will appear in NBJ's Annual Executive Review and Awards issue (January 2011) and be invited to accept awards in person at the 14th annual NBJ Summit in Dana Point, Calif., July 19-22 (www.nbjsummit.com). 

Award categories include: Growth in Large, Mid-Size and Small Companies; Wall Street Award for Stock Performance; Scientific Achievement; Investment in the Future; Personal Service; Deals of the Year; Environment and Sustainability; Management Achievement; Education; Philanthropy; Product Merit Awards; Organic Excellence; and Efforts on Behalf of the Industry.

Recipients will be selected by NBJ's editorial team with input from the standards department of publisher, New Hope Natural Media and NBJ's Editorial Advisory Board. Nominations from businesses, individuals and self-nominations are accepted through Nov. 5, at:www.nutritionbusinessjournal.com.

Additionally, NBJ will present a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual who has made significant contributions to the natural products industry and earned the respect of colleagues. Winners are selected by NBJ's Editorial Advisory Board. Two industry leaders were honored this year.

Robert Orr, president and chief executive officer of Ocean Nutrition Canada, was presented a 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the industry and senior management career spanning more than 30 years in the nutritional ingredient, marine biotech, food retailing and food wholesaling industries. His company is the world's largest ingredient supplier of omega 3 EPA and DHA fish oil, to the dietary supplement and functional foods industry. Orr was also integral to the formation of GOED, the Global Organization for EPA and DHA omega-3.

Steve Allen, former vice president, new ventures for Nestlé, was also presented with a 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award for his active involvement in the food industry for more than 20 years, working in Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and Switzerland. Nestlé, the number one food company in the world with upwards of $90 billion in sales has maintained a dominant position in nutritional products and is an acknowledged leader in research and development. During Allen's career his responsibilities included venture capital activities and the investments that Nestlé made in start-up companies in the United States and Canada. Currently, Allen is a chairman with Nutrition Capital Network, which facilitates financing for small companies and introduces investors to the next generation of successful brands in the natural products industry.
