Shoppers pay attention to animal welfare [infographic]

Concerns over health, environment and animal welfare have driven increasingly mindful consumers to eat more plant-based foods, and others to be more thoughtful about the meat choices they make (consider this: beef consumption overall in the U.S. fell 19 percent between 2005 and 2014, yet demand for grass-fed beef enjoyed 40 percent sales growth in 2015.)

Numerous large food companies, restaurant chains and retailers have pledged to source cage-free eggs and meat from animals that were raised without antibiotics, as well as take other steps to address the health and integrity of their animal product supply chains. And the regenerative agriculture community continues to educate about the connection between livestock, soil health and environmental health.
