Kellogg launches VC fund to invest in food startups

Better late than never, right? Kellogg Company joins the ranks of Big Food companies like Campbell's and General Mills (the latter of which has been particularly aggressive in the natural foods space) in looking for food innovation in promising startup companies. With the help of Touchdown Ventures, Kellogg will invest about $100 million in companies with innovative ingredients, food and packaging through its new 1894 fund. “By investing directly in the most promising entrepreneurs and ventures, we can increase greatly our access to game-changing ideas and trends that could become significant sources of growth for us," says vice chairman Gary Pilnick.
