A KIND and timely nudge to the FDA on food labeling

The FDA sent KIND a warning letter earlier this year, saying that the company's fruit and nut bars did not meet its standards for having "healthy" on their label because of their high fat content, despite the fact that nuts are widely regarded as a form of healthy fats. David Katz, now senior nutrition advisor for the company, says KIND has submitted a citizen petition to the FDA, asking the agency to revisit its regulations related to fat content and labeling a food "healthy."
