Science panel urges rewrite of food allergy warning labels
A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine calls for regulators and the food industry to make allergy warning labels better reflect the level of risk that products may contain or have come in contact with allergenic ingredients. It suggests a system where anything above to-be-determined safety levels for different allergens must be labeled. Currently, precautionary labels about accidental contamination are voluntary. Lucky's CEO forecasts additional new sites in 2017
This has been a big year for Lucky's Market, which opened eight new stores and garnered an investment from Kroger—and next year may be just as big. The chain plans to continue growing its presence in Florida with three more store, plus a store in Michigan and others to be announced later. Amazon says it has absolutely no plans to open 2,000 stores
The ecommerce company shut down rumors reported by Business Insider and The Wall Street Journal that it had up to 2,000 grocery stores in the works, saying, "We have no plans to open 2,000 of anything. Canada's new food labels won't include GMO information
The federal government in Canada is overhauling its food labeling system, but it won't include any requirements for labeling genetically modified foods, because the governent doesn't consider GMO foods as problematic. Read more at Epoch Times...
