Company
Brattleboro, Vt.-based supplement company New Chapter announced it has received B Corp certification administered by the nonprofit B Lab. The certification holds a company up to standards of sustainability, transparency, accountability and community engagement. New Chapter CEO Kyle Garner called the certification a natural evolution of the company’s identity. “We’re constantly looking for new chapters,” he said. “We were a first mover in organic ingredients for supplements; the first full line of non-GMO supplements; among the first to use supercritical extraction.”
In Memory
Faye Glazer, 58, died Jan. 24, 2014. Stricken with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was a teenager and given six months to live, she changed the course of her life—and in many ways the natural products industry—studying diet, herbs and supplements. Her roots were anchored in 1982 in retail at the family-owned Jandi’s Nature’s Way in Oceanside, NY. She spent 12 years at Cornucopia, from 1987 to 1999 through the IPO with UNFI. She was one of the founding members of Wildfire Sales Brokerage Firm, and launched new and emerging brands throughout the industry. She educated all those around her to the true meaning of organic and natural and left her radiant imprint on many people’s lives.
Jo Marcia Feinberg, co-owner of Aloha Natural Brokers, died Jan. 27, 2014, in Pukalani, Maui, Hawaii. She was 66 years old. She worked frequently with RESULTS, an organization to end hunger and poverty, as well as The Orchid Society and Greenpeace, and many other organizations. She loved culinary arts, orchids, outdoors, music, politics, natural foods, homeopathy and celebrating life.
