In the past few years, Bilberry products have received great attention due to benefit for vision function and their safety profile. The bilberry market has been growing rapidly, from annual sales of USD $200 ~ 300 million to one of the top 20 herbal products in global market within just a few years...
Due to the acceptance of Bilberry in the marketplace and the rapidly increased volume of sales, particularly for European Bilberry, its raw material price has increased to a current EU $4/Kg from EU $1/Kg in 1998. Accordingly, the price for its extract has also jumped from EU $80/Kg to $650/Kg, and has led to a “sold out” situation due to early procurement in 2007.
