Director Robert Kenner has recently been nominated for an Academy Award for his 2008 documentary Food, Inc. Considered a craftsman of documentaries, Kenner is also a powerful public speaker on environmental, social, health, and political issues. His documentary, Food, Inc., was described by Variety as “a civil horror movie for the socially conscious, the nutritionally curious and the hungry…Food, Inc. does for the supermarket what Jaws did for the beach.”
Prior to his work on Food Inc., Kenner received a Peabody, Emmy, and Greirson Award for his film Two Days in October which blended archive footage and firsthand accounts of the lives of American’s during Vietnam. In addition to directing several specials for National Geographic and The American Experience, a filmed company history for Hewlett Packard, and numerous commercials for eBay and Hallmark, Kenner also worked with Martin Scorsese on The Road to Memphis, a documentary of The Blues featuring interviews with legendary blues guitarist B.B. King.
Robert will be speaking on Thursday, March 11, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. Level 3, Grand Ballroom
