Nutrient-rich apple powder
Synergy Production Laboratories has launched Synergized Apple Power, a 100 per cent certified-organic and kosher heirloom apple powder — including the polyphenol-rich peel. It is exceptionally high in antioxidants and phytochemicals (including flavonoids, polyphenols, procyanidins, fruit pectin, boron, quercetin and fibre). A cold-temperature process dries the apples, protecting and preserving all of the bioactive substances in the finished powder. It contains no chemicals or carriers and is ideal for many applications, including powdered drink mixes, tablets, capsules, food bars and functional foods.

Powdered bilberry extract
NutriPhy Bilberry is the latest product in the Chr. Hansen NutriPhy range. An extract of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) in powder form, NutriPhy Bilberry contains a minimum of 25 per cent anthocyanins specifically measured by HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromotography). The benefits to eye health are related to the anthocyanins, which aid in protecting the light-sensitive rods present in the retina, called rhodopsin. Balanced rhodopsin levels are imperative to facilitate better vision in dim light. The NutriPhy range also includes other active ingredients such as different polyphenols and natural carotenoids.

Prickly pear cactus range
French ingredients supplier BioSerae Laboratories has expanded its product line based on the prickly pear cactus Opuntia ficus indica. Cacti-Nea is a new powder for both the foods and supplements sectors, and water-soluble Cacti-Nea Instant, also a powder, has been developed for beverages. Unlike its flagship product NeOpuntia, derived from the cactus leaves, the new ingredients are dried extracts from the cactus fruit. Since its launch, NeOpuntia has been incorporated into 171 products around the world, almost exclusively in food supplements.
