Nominations open for Delicious Living's 2018 Best Bite Awards

In addition to writing articles, interviewing industry experts and providing the most hilarious jokes at New Hope Network, an important part of my job is to learn about the newest natural food and beverage launches. Thankfully, many brands make this easy by sending packages of their new product directly to the office. I usually receive three to five packages of hot-off-the-press samples ranging from plant-based ice cream and nutrition bars to kombucha and USDA Organic grass-fed honey-sriracha bison bites per day. (Sometimes, if a flash of compassion strikes, I share these savory and sweet noshes with my fellow editors.)

I often chronicle these samples in a bi-weekly gallery series, Unboxed, to showcase new items to’s trade audience.

But once a year, I have the opportunity to present a lot of new, natural and oh-so-delicious foods and beverages to a consumer-facing audience through New Hope Network’s Delicious Living magazine's Best Bite Awards. For more than 30 years, Delicious Living has been a trusted voice for the natural living community. Now in their sixth year, the Best Bite Awards represent the crème-de-la-crème of natural food and beverage products.

Winners and runners-up of the Best Bite Awards push the boundaries of what conscious, responsible food brands can achieve. Take for example last year’s Best Granola winner, GrandyOats. Not only did the company achieve the impossible—crafting a wildly delicious paleo organic granola with no refined sugars—but also did so in a facility powered by solar energy. I’m excited to announce that nominations for Delicious Living’s 2018 Best Bite Awards are officially open! (Click here to nominate your product.) In addition to product presentation, sourcing and nutrition, when judging the awards this year editors will pay specific attention to transparency. Is it easily discernible to know where the ingredients in a product came from? Were ingredients grown in a way that improves the soil, mitigates climate change or fosters small-farmer sovereignty? Where and how was the product made? And by whom? We'll be asking these questions when judging food and beverage nominees. And of course, products must be tasty—“delicious” is in our name, after all.

We will be accepting nominations until April 16, 2018, and winners will appear in the July issue of Delicious Living magazine.
