OFRF Hosts Organic Benefit Luncheon

The Organic Farming Research Foundation will present early results from its annual National Organic Farmers' Survey at the Sixth Annual Meet and Greet Organic Benefit Luncheon on Thursday, March 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center.

This year's luncheon is sponsored by Odwalla Inc. Company President Shawn Sugarman and Chief Prospector Maude Martin are expected to make a $25,000 donation to OFRF Executive Director Bob Scowcroft at the event.

Scowcroft says the luncheon, traditionally the kickoff to Organic Day at Natural Products Expo West, will also include an update on OFRF's grant program and new policy initiatives.

A lavish all-organic buffet will be prepared by Donna Prizgintas, screenwriter David E. Kelly and actress Michelle Pfeiffer's personal chef, and Surf & Sand Resort Chef Chris Blobaum. The menu includes: carrot risotto prepared with Odwalla Organic Carrot Juice and crème fraiche from Cow Girl Creamery; Organic Valley pork shoulder and sausages braised with roasted apples and Odwalla Organic Apple Juice, fennel and cabbage; smoked tofu from Wildwood Natural Foods; lacinato kale from Earthbound Farms; chicken parsnip ravioli from Petaluma Poultry; a winter salad dressed with walnut oil from Omega Nutrition; a selection of Cow Girl Cheeses; and dessert including warm chocolate fondant with chocolate orange sorbet made from Odwalla Organic Orange Juice.
