Women's leadership summit focuses on regenerating the planet, moving women forward

A diverse community of contributors and participants—entrepreneurs, farmers, ranchers, activists, writers, investors, innovators and more—comes together online beginning May 3 to redefine leadership and positively affect the world.

Hosted by Regenerative Rising, the Women Leading Regeneration Online Summit begins with Leadership Day, a gathering to strengthen and inspire women, femme and non-binary leaders from around the globe. Presenters include the Equal Rights Amendment Coalition, and participants will discuss the changes needed to political and institutional structures to secure women's wellbeing under the law. A panel discussion, "What is Unique about Women's Leadership and Why It Matters," will look at the opportunity to redefine leadership in a way that draws on women's experiences.

A Regenerative Leadership Workshop will cultivate ongoing cohorts of women after the summit through the Regenerative Design Lab offered by nRhythm.

"The uprising has begun. We believe that women's leadership is a key to planetary health. This event is designed to further catalyze the revolution that women throughout the globe have all been working towards for decades. A revolution towards infusing more love, life, and care into every system and institution on our planet. A revolution towards regenerating ourselves, our communities, our world. says Tay Lotte, event co-host and producer, in a press release. "We are honored to continue to nurture and grow this community of women who we believe are on the path to changing the world."

The online summit kicks off at 10 a.m. MDT May 4. Keynote speakers include Tiffanie Drayton, the author of "Black American Refugee: Escaping the Narcissism of the American Dream," and Seleyn DeYarus, founder and executive director of Regenerative Rising.

Other speakers include familiar names in natural foods and sustainability:

  • Donna Kilpatrick leads Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas, and serves as an accredited professional with the Savory Institute.

  • Beth Jensen is director of climate and strategy at Textile Exchange, a global nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the use of sustainable fibers and materials within the apparel, footwear and home textiles industries.

  • Karen Washington, who delivered a keynote address at Natural Products Expo East in 2018, is a James Beard Leadership Award winner, farmer and community activist.

  • Bethany Davis, the director of advocacy and government affairs for MegaFood, is president of the Coalition for Supplement Sustainability and serves on the board of trustees for the American Botanical Council and the American Herbal Products Association. MegaFood received the 2018 Award for Education from Nutrition Business Journal.

  • Carenda "Cee" Stanley is the CEO of Green Heffa Farms, the first Black-owned farm to earn B Corporation certification. She recently joined the board of directors for Regenerative Rising, and the farm joined the Organic Trade Association in March.

  • Lara Dickinson has worked for nearly 20 years in the consumer packaged goods industry, including Numi Organic Tea, Alter Eco Foods, Gardein Protein and Balance Bar. She might be best known, though for starting OSC2 (One Step Closer to an Organic Sustainable Community) and launching the Climate Collaborative at Natural Products Expo East in 2016.

All women are welcome at the summit, DeYarus emphasizes in a press release.

"We hold as sacred the inclusion of any woman who has not felt welcome in other contexts," she says. Tickets to the summit include a "Pay What You Can" price and an "Equity Pass" so everyone who wants to participate will have a chance to do so.
