5 companies pushing the organic trend

NEXT Trends 2020 series: In an effort to help support retailers and brands, we will be publishing regular brand features for the next few weeks. Brands are selected from those that registered to exhibit at Natural Products Expo West 2020 and were curated as great examples of one of 50 trends New Hope Network is monitoring in the marketplace.
These trends are part of New Hope Network's NEXT Expo Guidebook and trend hierarchy.
Today, we look at five companies that are innovating in the "Organic" trend within the Agricultural Commitments macro force. Organic is a base standard in the fight for good food. But brands are doing more by engaging in policy to strengthen its standards, expanding acreage or showcasing a deep understanding of the ecological journey to their organic efforts.
1. Mālama Mushrooms
What is it? A line of mushroom elixir products, including cocoa mixes and chocolate bars made from organic mushroom powders and cacao.
Innovation: Hawaiian Ola sells mushroom powder superfood mixes make with cacao under the brand name Mālama Mushrooms. The chocolate bars and cacao mixes are made from organic reishi, chaga, lion's mane and cordyceps fruiting-body extract. Products are certified organic, grown on wood, contain no added starch, mycelium, grain or fillers and are third-party tested by an accredited lab.
2. Kin+Kind
What is it? Pet products such as shampoos and nutrition products. The products are organic, made in the USA, vet tested, cruelty free and paraben free.
Innovation: Kin+Kind’s nutrition line includes products like superfood supplement sets made from real organic food for maximum absorption and bioavailability. The company also has a line of coat/skin care for dogs and cats that includes shampoos, flea and tick treatments and odor neutralizers.
3. RE Botanicals
What is it? RE Botanicals is the first USDA Organic, vertically integrated hemp CBD company. It grows, extracts, bottles and distributes all products from its Conway, South Carolina, facility.
Innovation: RE Botanicals makes certified organic full spectrum hemp CBD products without pesticides, glyphosate or GMOs. Its hemp extracts are blended with organic MCT oil, and all botanicals, like peppermint, lavender and ginger-lime, are USDA Organic. The company also donates 1% of sales to support regenerative agriculture.
4. Earth Mama Organics
What is it? Earth Mama Organics sells a variety of new mother-centric products like nipple butter, “booby tubes” for breast tenderness, baby lotions and washes, perineal balm, sitz bath salts and herbal teas.
Innovation: The company makes herbal care products for pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, baby care or the loss of a baby. Earth Mama Organics' products marry traditional plant medicine with evidence-based research and include organic herbal teas, soaps, balms, lotions, soothing sprays, sunscreens, deodorants and the first Non-GMO Project Verified nipple cream.
5. Mayorga Organics
What is it? Mayorga Organics is primarily an organic coffee company and roaster that works closely with producers to help them grow organic products, finance their supply chain and find efficient ways of shipping. Mayorga also runs a sustainable coffee roasting plant in Maryland.
Innovation: The company seeks to eliminate systemic poverty in rural Latin America through responsible trade of artisanal organic foods like coffee and chia. At its roasting plant and in the fields, it practices coffee chaff recycling, burlap recycling and uses a corrugated shredder to turn boxes into protective packaging material.
