Building on its success in 2010, the annual Natural Products Expo Asia (NPEA) opens 25 Aug at the Hall 1 D&E, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This leading Natural Products tradeshow is open through 27 Aug and will draw a massive number of exhibitors and buyers in the natural, organic and health products industry from all over the world. It is now recognized internationally as a top-of-its-kind platform for businesses to develop and capitalize on opportunities while gathering information on the most up-to-date trends in the global market.
This year, about 200 companies from a total of 16 countries & regions come together in the vibrant city of H.K. to showcase a variety of quality products and supplies ranging from food & beverage, dietary supplement, natural and raw ingredients, cosmetics and skin care products, spa facilities and supplies. Country Pavilions (Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, U.K., and U.S.) are also set up to exhibit all sorts of supplements, ingredients, technologies and manufacturing services.
More than 50 VIP guests attends and delivers speeches in the opening breakfast, including Mr. Andre Leu, Vice President of IFOAM World Board, Mr. Patrick Rea, Publisher & Editorial Director of Nutrition Business Journal and Mr. Eric Crowley, Commercial Consul of U.S. Commercial Service, American Consulate General. When asked about the Organic industry Mr. Andre Leu said, "The global value of certified organic market sales was US $54.9 billion in 2009. Although U.S. is still the largest market with US $29 billion market sales in 2010, Asia is the fastest growing region in the world with China and India are fuelling Asia's growth in organic production." Mr. Patrick Rea describes the market overview of the global nutrition industry, "The sales have more than doubled in the last 10 years. Among all, natural & organic food sales have grown by almost 3 times to U.S. 85 billion and China has consistently outperformed the global market since 1995." Lion Dancing is performed during the Opening, wishing NPEA a great success in this edition.
Series of Co-locating Events Praised by Exhibitors & Visitors
The 2-day educational conference, Nutracon Asia 2011 grandly opens on 24 Aug and is expected to attract over 120 industry professionals. Nutracon Asia features four sessions themed around Functional Food & Beverage, Dietary Supplement, Cosmetic Regulations and Beauty & Wellness as well as Organic Certification. The conference invites 27 notable speakers include Rick Chin, Asia's leading make-up artist and stylist, Mr. Xiao Xingji, Director of the Organic Food Development Center of China (OFDC), China, Mr. Andrew Jacka, Director of Thai Spa Association, etc. Leveraging its U.S. success, the NutriCosmetics Summit debuts in Asia on 24 Aug providing valuable information on the growth of the global and regional nutricosmetics markets, with a focus and emphasis on healthy aging.
To align with the organic and health concept, Healthy Kitchen will be in the fairground during the show period. Club O—one of the Expo's supporting associations, and Ms Ling Lee—renowned columnist in the industry will address on 26 Aug and 27 Aug, offering special tips on "Great Food for Summer Days" and "The Secret of Young Forever" respectively. Other interesting and informative subjects include "Superfoods" (by I-Detox), "Why eat Raw?" (by Organic Land), "Eat Fat Look Thin" (by Jireh International), to name a few.
Another highlight of NPEA 2011 is the diversified topics at free Open Forum. Mr. Jalal Janmohamed from OpticBac Probiotics and Mr. Jeff Crowther from US-China Health Product Association introduces and analyzes probiotics and the development of dietary supplement industry in China respectively on 25 Aug; while Mr. Gordon Chalmers from Jasmin Skincare will teach audience on how to identify an organic skincare product (26 Aug), as well as Dr. Pai-An Hwang who will express anti-inflammatory and apoptotic activities of Fucoidan (26 Aug).
The Expo Asia Welcome reception is held on the first night of the Expo.
