Sun & Swell Foods thoroughly impressed judges throughout both rounds of Natural Products Expo West 2020 NEXTY judging, coming away with the well-earned NEXTY Award for Best Environmentally Responsible Packaging.
CEO and founder Kate Flynn credits an Israel-based company called TIPA for the compostable, flexible film the package is made of. According to her, the company was small enough to be able to get the new packaging on shelf in just nine months.
The biggest challenge of implementing this novel packaging, she reveals, isn't the marginal price difference—it's keeping the product inside pristine after shipping and storing.
Notably, an impressive 50% of California-based Sun & Swell's ingredients are sourced within the state, and all of its products are gluten free, dairy free, soy free and vegan.
