The cosmetics products a woman puts in her cart might depend more on her age than the color palette you carefully chose. A new report from the NPD Group, a Port Washington, N.Y.-based market research company, shows that the makeup a woman uses shifts as she ages. The change begins with women age 35 to 44, who start opting for more color for the face and less on the eyes, possibly because eye shadow can highlight fine lines, the report says. Nearly 80 percent of women between 18 to 24 years old use eye shadow and eye liner, but by the time they reach 55, 68 percent of women use eye shadow and 54 percent use eyeliner. Younger women also wear more lip gloss, with women over 35 opting for lipstick. And long eyelashes are always a hit, with nearly nine in 10 women ages 18 to 54 wearing mascara.
