NI-foodinnov.jpgClean-label texturiser for high-moisture foods
Homecraft Gold, a nature-based clean-label texturiser, has been launched by National Starch Food Innovation. The ingredient is ideal for a broad range of high-moisture foods, including ready-to-eat meals; chilled, frozen or shelf-stable soups; sauces and gravies; and frozen entrées. It provides smooth, silky textures and a deep shine and opacity, and its clean flavour characteristics enable formulators to reduce the use of costly ingredients, such as balsamic vinegar and saffron.

NI_Fabuless.jpgWeight management Fabuless now available in US market
The weight-management ingredient by New Jersey-based DSM Nutritional Products is designed to boost satiety, so dieters can control their caloric intakes. Fabuless' effects have been proven by five clinical studies upon its launch in the European market; it is now being brought to the US market. The ingredient was developed especially for use in dairy products. An oil-in-water emulsion, it consists of a minimal amount of palm and oat oils. The specific oat fraction digests slowly, allowing Fabuless to penetrate deeply into the intestinal system. The body identifies a relatively high level of undigested fat at a relatively late stage of the digestive process and then suppresses hunger signals, DSM explains.

It works particularly well in soups, bakery products, sauces, potato-crisp seasonings and meat products. Today it is a leader in the manufacture of citric acid and citrates, xanthan gum, and sodium gluconates, among others.
