Justin’s donation helps fight hunger in Denver and Boulder

Justin’s, makers of naturally delicious, high-quality nut butters, snacks and organic peanut cups, and a subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL), announced that it has made a donation of $10,000 split equally between each of the following organizations to help fight hunger: Harvest of Hope, Conscious Alliance and Metro Caring.

"Over the years, as a Colorado company we have developed strong relationships with these local organizations, and are honored to enhance our support during Hunger Action Month," said Justin Gold, company founder. "As a natural food company, it's important that we do our part to help nourish communities with a product that is both nutritious and delicious and remain committed to giving back.”

Mike Guanella, president of Justin’s, added “Our team is honored to join these organizations to help support hunger relief in the Boulder area. I would like to thank our employees, whose dedication and hard work make it possible to help those in need. On behalf of Justin’s, we are excited to help do our part in making a difference.”

To date in 2017, Justin's has volunteered over 200 employee hours in support of CSR initiatives core to the brand including hunger relief and pollinator conservation programs, and provides product and monetary support to both local and national organizations. It may be nuts, but as the brand continues to grow, they strive to make more than just delicious products, Justin’s wants to continue to make a difference.

This is the seventh consecutive year Hormel Foods has given funds to its locations to share with nonprofits in their respective communities to fight hunger. In 2016, Hormel Foods donated $350,000 to local hunger relief organizations in 35 U.S. communities, bringing the program’s total contribution to local hunger relief efforts to more than $2 million thus far. Through this program as well as disaster relief efforts and other donations, Hormel Foods contributed $7.4 million in cash and product donations to help address hunger in fiscal 2016.

“Hormel Foods is committed to fighting hunger in communities around the world where our employees work and live,” said Wendy Watkins, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. “By working with organizations at a local level, our locations have found great success in helping meet their community’s unique needs to help end hunger.”
