TransFair sponsors Fair Trade Sweepstakes
In celebration of Fair Trade Month in October, TransFair USA is sponsoring the 2006 Discover Fair Trade Sweepstakes to promote fair trade-certified products and offer consumers a chance to visit Costa Rican farms to see how their fair trade purchases help these communities.

The retailer with the most consumer entrants will win a chance to join TransFair in Costa Rica. For display materials and to enter the sweepstakes, go to www.discoverfairtrade.org.

The contest begins Oct. 1, and the winning consumers, chosen randomly, will be announced Nov. 1., with the grand prize recipients receiving a seven-day, six-night Discover Fair Trade tour of Costa Rica.

Nominate businesses that give back
Nominations are now being accepted for the 12th Annual Socially Responsible Business Awards, which will be given out on Friday, Oct. 6, at Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore.

To be nominated, a business must excel in ethics, accountability, governance, employment practices, business relationships, financial return, products and services, community involvement, and environmental protection.

Golden Temple Bakery, manufacturer of Yogi Tea and Peace Cereals, organizes the annual breakfast event.

"The SRBAs is what the industry is about: being socially responsible from A to Z, meaning from procurement of ingredients to packaging, product and company practices. This event speaks to the vision of why the natural/organics industry started in the first place," said Gurudahn S. Khalsa, national sales manager for Golden Temple.

To nominate a company, contact Jill Ettinger at 201.963.2365 or [email protected] by Aug. 15.
