Magnesium lowers risk of heart disease

Eating green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and nuts can keep your waistline slim, but new research published in the journal Atherosclerosis suggests the abundance of magnesium in these foods may protect your ticker, too. Japanese scientists examined the dietary magnesium intakes of 58,615 people. Those who consumed the highest levels significantly reduced their risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease. Load up on pumpkin seeds, spinach, halibut, black beans, and quinoa to pump up your magnesium levels.
