USDA imposes stricter limit on salmonella bacteria in poultry products
It's one of the country's biggest food safety problems, causing an estimated 1 million cases of illness in this country each year. The USDA has found salmonella bacteria on about one-fourth of cut-up chicken parts headed for retail stores, but new standards will drop the acceptable frequency of contaminated chicken to 15 percent or less.
