Cyvex Nutrition has officially changed the name of its cognitive health ingredient Cognisetin to Novusetin. Cyvex decided to rebrand the ingredient Novusetin to avoid confusion that may exist in the marketplace with other ingredient offerings and to clearly differentiate this product for cognitive support. Novusetin is a fisetin-based ingredient that has shown promise in in vivo studies to support memory health and stem the effects of age-related cognitive decline.
"Although it has a new name, Novusetin is still the same great anti-aging product for cognitive support our customers have come to expect," stated Constance Ostler, director of sales and marketing at Cyvex Nutrition. "Novusetin is backed by extensive cellular and animal research conducted at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. We felt that renaming the ingredient would eliminate any confusion in the marketplace with similar sounding brand names."
Novusetin has been shown to stimulate the signaling pathways that enhance long-term memory. Its role in improving cognition goes far beyond its antioxidant potential. Novusetin has the ability to permeate through the blood brain barrier efficiently and effectively presents great potential in neuroprotection. Research over the past decade has shown the main ingredient in Novusetin, fisetin, to reduce overactive brain and spinal cord-specific immune defenses that contribute to age-related decline and/or conditions; generate neuron cells in presence of damage; and protect and contribute to the synthesis of antioxidants found naturally in the body such as gluthionine. Results were demonstrated at human equivalence dose of 50 to 150 mg per day for an average adult. Fisetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid that can be found in fruits and vegetables such as strawberries.
