I have a hard time calling myself an "athlete." I was the picked-last-for-kickball asthmatic kid. I escaped all four years of high school P.E. on a doctor’s note. My 15-year-old self wouldn’t believe I’d become a hardcore cyclist racking up 9,000 miles a year and dropping my friends in the thin air on 12,000-foot mountain passes. But here I am, an athlete.
