A boon for babies

New mothers are a concerned bunch. They make up a large sector of crossover organic/natural consumers. And now they have one more reason to cross over: An independent lab test of 48 conventional children's bath products showed more than 60 percent contained the carcinogens formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane.

The non-profit group The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which commissioned the test, said that, while a single product might not be cause for concern, the reality is that babies may be exposed to several products at bath time, several times a week, in addition to other chemical exposures in the home and environment. Those small exposures add up and may contribute to later-life disease.

The good news is, I just got back from Natural Products Expo West this past weekend, and I can tell you there are PLENTY of natural and organic options. From shampoo to baby oil to diaper-rash ointment, there are high-quality, safe products launching left and right. Stay tuned to for more on these wonderful new products.
