Turmacin receives proprietary ingredient number

Polysaccharide-rich, curcuminoid-free, aqueous extract from Curcuma longa rhizomes is positioned for joint health.

Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. recently received a proprietary ingredient (PI) number (108910) for its branded ingredient Turmacin™ from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Turmacin is a patent pending, novel ingredient with a unique, polysaccharide-rich, curcuminoid-free, aqueous extract from the rhizomes of the plant Curcuma longa. It is positioned for management of joint health.

In order for the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia to grant a Proprietary Ingredient (PI) number for a listable medicine, they thoroughly review the manufacturing process for that particular herbal ingredient. Once it is deemed that the exacting manufacturing standards required for listed medicines are met, the TGA will grant a PI number.

This relieves the burden for both sponsors and manufacturers of complementary medicine by ensuring that the herbal medicine manufacturing protocols are met, and it makes the listing process for complementary medicines less cumbersome.

Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. thanks the efforts of Network Nutrition, the exclusive partner in Australia and New Zealand for their exhaustive efforts in this achievement, said the marketing director of the company.
