Sports drinks were the slowest growth segment of the sports and energy beverage market over the last decade and averaged only 2.8 percent growth. Looking to the future, NBJ forecasts that sports drinks will average 2.1 percent growth from 2015-2020. That's slower than the 3.8 percent expected for the entire sports and energy beverage category but much better than the energy drink market, which is expected to lose sales over the same time period.
