Online seller pulls possible steroids

For the first time ever, a sport-supplements company voluntarily recalled a significant number of suspect products from its inventory. The online seller of sports-performance supplements,, removed 65 dietary supplements as part of an ongoing co-operative effort with the Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA informed the company that it believed that the recalled products contained ingredients that were currently classified, or that the FDA believed should be classified, as steroids, including 'Superdrol,' 'Madol,' 'Tren,' 'Androstenedione' and 'Turinabol.'

In a statement, the company said it had not had an opportunity to independently confirm the FDA's concerns, but was undertaking this voluntary recall in an abundance of caution. It said that prior to agreeing to carry the recalled products, all of the manufacturers assured the company these products were properly classified as dietary supplements in compliance with federal law, meaning that these products did not contain any unlawful ingredients.
