Consumers can't get enough of on-the-go nutrition from companies such as Powerbar, Balance Bar, Clif Bar and many others. In fact, U.S. consumer sales of nutrition bars, gels, chews (and other innovative delivery forms) grew 12 percent in 2010 to $2.5 billion, reports Nutrition Business Journal.
The nutrition bar market may be mature, but this past year a renewed focus on lifestyle-oriented brands has opened wide niches for new companies and new products to emerge, such as those bars now capitalizing on the sweet and salty trend.
