Avatar Marketing Inc., national sales management and consulting firm for the natural products and organic industry, is relocating its corporate headquarters from Las Vegas to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The company will maintain a mainland satellite office.

San Leandro, Calif.-based nSpired Natural Foods named Straus Communications its public relations company of record to do all of nSpired?s consumer and trade public relations. nSpired produces natural and organic foods for those on restricted diets. Straus Communications was founded in 1999 by Michael Straus, originally marketing director of Straus Family Creamery.

Bucks County, Pa.-based The Healthy Beverage Co.?s new product, Steaz, has garnered several industry awards, including: Nutritional Outlook?s Excellence in Manufacturing Award, Beverage Industry?s Most Unique Product of 2003 and Best New Product for 2003, and Entrepreneur?s Best Businesses for 2004.

Terry Laboratories, based in Melbourne, Fla., has completed an extensive certification process by both the USDA and IFOAM for their new line of aloe vera products including fillet and whole leaf powders. The new line is 100 percent organic.

Chatsworth, Calif.-based Natrol Inc. was honored as the 2003 Vendor of the Year for the nutrition center division of Fred Meyer stores. Natrol, manufacturer of branded nutritional products and nutraceutical ingredients, received the award in recognition of innovative and aggressive new-product introductions and promotional plans.

Jarrow Industries Inc.?s Santa Fe Springs, Calif., contract-manufacturing facility is launching a new Web site at The Web site provides complete information on Jarrow Industries? services, from formulation to encapsulation.

Jim?s Organic Coffee, of Wareham, Mass., is celebrating Earth Day 2004 by donating 10 cents per pound of their single origin coffees sold during April. WaterAid is an international nongovernmental organization that works to provide safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world?s poorest people, especially in Asia and Africa.

Hodgson Mill Inc., Effingham, Ill.-based producer of all-natural whole grain foods, recently doubled the manufacturing and warehouse capacity at its headquarters. The company is also increasing its manufacturing capabilities at the site with the addition of new equipment, including two new bulk tanks for storing ingredients, two 4,500-pound blenders, a new pouching machine and a new carton machine.

United Natural Foods Inc. of Dayville, Conn., has entered into an agreement with Select Nutrition Distributors Inc. to form a distribution partnership. Select will distribute certain health and beauty aids, vitamins, minerals and supplements to UNFI?s customers, which will increase the mixture they can purchase from Select.

Chatsworth, Calif.-based sports/fitness nutrition company Prolab has entered into a partnership with ESPN?s fitness show BodyShaping. Prolab and BodyShaping will create a new line of nutritional supplements called BodyShaping by ProLab, which will be launched as part of a comprehensive fitness program.

SourceOne Global Partners, a sales and marketing company for nutritional ingredients marketers and manufacturers, launched its logo for Sytrinol, a patented cholesterol maintenance ingredient. The new logo will be backed by a comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign.

Polyphenolics' new Web site,, will help consumers learn more about the benefits of grape extracts by providing a frequently asked questions section and basic information about grape seed extracts. For manufacturers, the site will provide an introduction to the company?s MegaNatural line and a daily updated media schedule.

Sun-Rype Products Ltd. is joining with Okanagan University College in British Columbia as a patron sponsor of the new Regional Chemical Analysis Center. The partnership hopes to see the facility become a world-renowned center for research in phytonutrients, nutraceuticals and other natural health products.

Balchem Encapsulates and David Michael and Co. have entered into an agreement to manufacture and market microencapsulated flavors in North America. The flavors will be marketed in several categories, including bakery, dairy, tea, coffee, confections, meats and nutraceuticals.

OrderDog Inc., a Web-based technology company that provides secure third-party services to increase efficiencies in the supply chain, signed a contract with Wild Oats Markets Inc. Wild Oats began using OrderDog in January after an eight-week test at a store in Boulder, Colo. OrderDog has streamlined the ordering process and increased Wild Oats product selection through a customized special order process combined with a catalog of more than 40,000 items.
