Allma to unveil 'food of the future' at Hi Europe
Applications on display at Health Ingredients Europe include Bubble Tea, olive oil, a savory spread and chocolate—all enriched with Allma’s premium quality Chlorella powder.

Microalgae supplier Allma will showcase groundbreaking food and beverage concepts that harness the benefits of sun-grown Chlorella at Health Ingredients Europe 2014.

Working with its industry partners, Allma has developed a series of innovative recipes that incorporate Chlorella in order to demonstrate that “the Next Generation of Foods will be Green.” Applications on display at HIE include Bubble Tea, olive oil, a savory spread and chocolate—all enriched with Allma’s premium quality Chlorella powder.

Exhibiting on Stand F89, Portugal-based Allma will also give visitors to HIE a first chance to see its Chlorella Crunches—an innovative new concept that blends rice cereals with sun-grown Chlorella powder to create a natural, delicious and nutritious crispy snack and ingredient solution.

Chlorella Crunches will be available to try in three tempting flavors—Carrot & Raspberry, Ginger & Lemon and Rosemary & Piri Piri—and in different sizes to highlight their versatility. They can be seasoned and eaten alone as a tasty and healthy snack, or included in a salty snack mix. Alternatively they can be used as an inclusion in a wide range of products, including yoghurts, breakfast cereals, snack bars, soups, salads and many more.

In attendance at the show with Allma on Dec. 3 will be representatives from Portuguese food and beverage company Frulact. Allma and Frulact have worked together to create a special Chlorella Bubble Tea drink, a delicious Chlorella cream cheese spread made with a range of vegetables, and a citrus-flavored yoghurt.

Sofia Mendonça, business development manager at Allma, said: “HIE 2014 is the perfect event for us to showcase the potential of Allma’s sun-grown Chlorella in food and beverage applications. Not only do we pride ourselves on supplying the finest Chlorella available, but we also offer our customers full application support to help them develop innovative products that consumers will love. Visitors to our stand at HIE can see some examples of these innovations for themselves. It’s an exciting time for the Chlorella ingredients sectors and we firmly believe that the next generation of foods will be green.

The sun-grown Chlorella supplied by Allma is a rich, natural and 100 percent vegetable source of protein, including all nine of the essential amino acids. It also contains omega-3 and -6 oils, complex carbohydrates, phytonutrients including lutein, beta-carotene, chlorophyll and zeaxanthin, and a wide spectrum of vitamins and minerals that are essential for a healthy life.

Allma has produced a White Paper that explains how food and beverage companies can harness the potential of Chlorella. It’s free to download from here
