Barlean's Donations to Vitamin Angels Nears $800,000

Access to essential micronutrients can be the difference between a healthy and fulfilling life, and one of illness and even premature death for millions worldwide. Connecting vital nutrition with those in need stands at the heart of Vitamin Angels mission, one that is fulfilled in part, by donations of vitamins and supplements from commercial partners like Barlean’s.

It is through innovative and traditional partnerships that Vitamin Angels reaches individuals at risk of malnutrition domestically and around the world. Beginning in 2006, Barlean’s, a number one rated health food brand, began donating supplements to Vitamin Angels allowing the organization to reach thousands more in need. “Barlean's commitment to making the world a better place runs deep. Their support for Vitamin Angels work has been significant and very much appreciated,” said Vitamin Angels Founder and President, Howard Schiffer. To date, Vitamin Angels has received, and consequently placed with a variety of beneficiary distribution partners, nearly $800,000 in supplements from Barlean’s. The most recent grant of supplements (approximately $140,000 in value) was given to a small organization committed to improving the health and survival of children who live outside the reach of assistance programs worldwide. It is through dedicated and lasting partnerships, such as Barlean’s collaboration and support of Vitamin Angels, that the global health crisis of malnutrition may yet be met.

Vitamin Angels is a non-profit organization that reduces instances of child blindness and mortality worldwide by connecting essential nutrients, especially vitamin A, with infants and children under five. In 2008, Vitamin Angels connected over 7.2 million children with vital nutrition and this year aims to reach more than 10 million children around the world. To learn more visit
