It was a star- and message-studded evening at the Environmental Media Association?s 15th annual Environmental Media Awards. During the Oct. 19 event, celebrity presenters, including Cameron Diaz and Rob Reiner, handed out awards to television shows and movies that communicate positive environmental messages.
Former Vice President Al Gore gave the keynote address at the event, which was held at the Ebell Club of Los Angeles.
Award categories included television episodic drama and comedy, reality television, children?s television, documentary and feature film and the Turner Award for a program dealing with population issues.
Attendees received gift bags made of recycled plastic bottles and filled with donated items such as Begley?s Best nontoxic cleaner and organic cotton T-shirts from Under The Canopy. Celebrity chefs included Donna Prizgintas, Christopher Blobaum and Akasha Richmond.
The event?s sponsors included Whole Foods Market, Horizon Organic, White Wave Foods, Bonterra Vineyards, Earthbound Farm, Zia Natural Skincare, Trinity Springs Water, organic brewer Bison Brewing Co., Organic Vintners, POM Wonderful and New Hope Natural Media, publisher of The Natural Foods Merchandiser.
