SCHAUMBURG, IL February 13, 2007 - SPINS, the leading information and service provider for the Natural Products Industry, and National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) announced an expanded partnership today. According to the new five-year agreement, NCGA member stores will move to census data in SPINSscan Natural, SPINS' proprietary retail measurement service for the natural supermarket channel, and launch a specific key account service that provides category, brand and item performance through the chain. SPINS and NCGA will work together to build a fact-based information environment that enables NCGA and their members to work more effectively with vendors and business partners.
NCGA is a business services cooperative owned by 108 independent retail food co-ops operating more than 130 stores across the U.S. With combined annual sales of greater than $800 million and average sales growth of more than 15% in the past year, NCGA is the third largest retail operator in the natural channel after Whole Foods and Wild Oats.
"We are excited to launch this long-term partnership with SPINS, whereby we will gain valuable access and insight into the performance of our stores, the natural channel and its dynamic consumers," commented Robynn Shrader, NCGA's CEO.
"SPINS is looking forward to enhancing NCGA's ability to track sales, execute on merchandising and promotional programs, and stay competitive in this dynamic marketplace," said SPINS' CEO Tony Olson. "They are a key component of the growth and success of the Natural Products Industry."
