Exotic Naturals Ramps Up Clinical Efforts

Mumbai: Exotic Naturals, a relatively obscure Dietary Ingredients and Supplements supplier from India, has announced that they are going to start clinical development for at least 2 of their supplement formulas and ingredients that have already successfully completed preclinical and are currently either being tried as case studies or in the protocol writing stage for Phase II / Proof of Concept studies.

Founder and CEO Latha Chaudhary admitted that the therapeutic segments (weight loss, male sexual function, allergic rhinitis and osteoarthritis) weren’t unique, but still offered an opportunity for product developers like themselves who had the India advantage of great science at low cost. Rekha Patel, heading Product Development at Exotic, was excited about some of the agents in their pipeline which have reported excellent activities in initial animal models. Particularly noteworthy was a plant active that has shown good activity against allergy.

Exotic Naturals has been supplying ingredients and private labeled formulas to brand-owners and toll manufacturers in N. America, Europe and the Far East for the last decade. “In the last year, we have embarked on an ambitious product development plan to put at least 2 new clinically tested brands on the market this year”, revealed Chaudhary. While dialog with several marketing partners in N. America is in progress, she said that they are still looking for the right partnerships in Europe and Asia.
