B&D Nutritional Ingredients, Inc., and Xsto Solutions Participate as Panelists at IFT 2007

2007 Annual Meeting & Expo at McCormick Place, Chicago: Nicki Jacobs, B&D’s Vice President of Technical & Regulatory Affairs, and Dan Murray, Vice President of Xsto Solutions (B&D’s business partner servicing the East Coast).

Nicki Jacobs will join the IFT Vendor Qualification Discussion Panel on July 30, 2007, from 4:00 – 5:35 PM to inform audience members what is available for the company’s use and how to streamline information exchange between raw material vendors and manufacturers. “This will be a great session. Attendees will see actual examples of questionnaires and learn from others who have implemented the protocol for their own raw material and vendor qualification processes,” explains Nicki. This panel discussion will present the new voluntary Standardized Information for Dietary Ingredients protocol (SIDI). Other panelists include Dan Fabricant (NPA), Dr. Ram Chaudhari (Fortitech) and Max Motyka (Albion AN).

The SIDI protocol was developed jointly by the Council for Responsible Nutrition, Natural Products Association, the American Herbal Products Association and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, and the Jacobs will talk about B&D’s extensive technical and regulatory information library and benefits the SIDI protocol offers in terms of unifying terminology used by dietary supplement and food industry regulatory specialists. Speakers will address how the SIDI protocol can support documentation that is necessary for safety and GMP compliance.
Dan Murray will join the IFT Delivery System for Nutraceuticals Discussion Panel on July 29, 2007, from 4:00 – 5:35 PM. This presentation will review nutraceutical delivery systems starting with traditional delivery systems of tablets, capsules and sachets. Then it will explore the next generation of sustained-release or slow-release technologies. Modern formulators are approaching nutraceuticals with significantly more creativity. By adding nutraceuticals to functional foods and beverages, formulators are opening a whole new world of product development. More importantly, they are expanding the market potential for ingredients by offering products that appeal to consumers. “This discussion will be worth seeing. We will review the common characteristics of ingredients and how they affect delivery and formulation technologies and finally explore the more popular options such as dairy and beverage systems for delivering nutraceutical ingredients,” confirms Dan Murray.
