WASHINGTON, D.C., March 27, 2008—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) today announced a new Associate Member Benefits Package to attract a greater number of industry-affiliated companies to its roster and offer its voting members easier access to companies providing services for the supplement industry.
According to Steve Mister, “We’ve had on-going discussions with our associate members and potential associate members, and what we’ve learned is they’re interested in two things when it comes to belonging to a trade association. First, they want an opportunity to network with and be recognized by the major players who manufacture supplement ingredients and finished products. Second, these companies understand that a more robust supplement industry will help their own businesses grow and they know that joining CRN helps to build a stronger industry, by showing unity and solidarity with manufacturers for the programs CRN offers. Membership in CRN satisfies both of those objectives.”
The Associate Member Benefits Package offers a number of creative ways for associate members to attract attention to the services they provide through CRN’s marketing efforts on their behalf to CRN’s voting members. The Associate Member category includes individuals or companies that serve the supplement industry as consultants, standard-setting bodies, laboratories, packagers, testing facilities, certification organizations, equipment manufacturers, scientific research firms, post-market-surveillance companies, law firms, market research firms, insurance companies, media companies, call centers, etc.
The benefits package was officially approved at CRN’s December Board meeting and shared with current associate members and several prospective associate members who had indicated an interest in membership, if such a package were to be offered. According to Mr. Mister, membership in this category has already moved from 10 to 16 companies since information on the new program was first released.
“This is a category in which we see strong potential for growth. We’re actively encouraging companies that service the industry to consider how they might benefit from a seat at CRN’s table,” said Mr. Mister.
