The demand for whey, especially high value-added whey products, is growing constantly in China thanks to the rapid development of China’s economy and higher requirement for food nutrition and especially for baby formula.
But, at present, imports still account for the largest proportion in the total domestic demand for whey products, with the EU, Oceania and North America are the main suppliers. The import of whey and denatured whey products stood at 288,000 tons in 2009 and whey protein, 12,400 tons, whereas the import of whey and disnatured whey products recorded 137,900 tons in 2002 and whey protein, 205 tons.
According to BOABC, China's leading agriculture & food business consulting company, the application of whey products in multiple processing industries is still at a growing stage, the development potential is huge.
Whey protein, called “King of Protein”, is a high-quality protein naturally found in dairy. It is a complete protein containing all of the essential amino acids ("building blocks") your body needs and is easy to digest. Whey protein is also one of the best sources of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), including leucine, which has been shown to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.
The whey protein is essential for infant formula and China is a country with billions of population, so the demand of whey protein for infant is very large. Today, with the consumer’s acceptation of whey protein applied in sports drink and other nutrition foods, the product become more necessary for Chinese consumers. Obviously, there is a supplying gap in Chinese market for whey protein and Fenchem is now looking for partners to promote the product in China.
Fenchem is a science based supplier of food ingredients and supplement ingredients with more than 15 years history. The headquarter is based in China, and our USA and EU branches are located in California and OSTRAVA VITKOVICE, Czech Republic respectively. Fenchem China is equipped with quality control center to guarantee the products of satisfied standards according to customers’ needs.
USAand Europe are our traditionally markets for export. With the Chinese increasing demand for nutrition products, we are now stepping into internal market. We are dedicated to import good oversea products for Chinese consumers.
Whey protein is a product with good potential and wide applications. There is huge demand in China but there is no good local product available at present. So, we are looking for a manufacturer intended to distribute the whey protein within China. We have a specialized team for the product promotion from marketing, sales, quality control and technical support. We can make detail discussion at the coming Vitafoods exhibition.
