Goji-Flavored Beverage With Benolea® and Alin(TM) At SSW

North Bergen, New Jersey, November 1, 2007 – “The synergy of Frutarom’s Health Division and our Flavor Division has resulted in products that are healthy as well as tasty.” That’s Laurent Leduc, Vice President, Marketing and Business, Frutarom USA Inc., describing how Frutarom brings innovation to products, with unique expertise that has resulted in the Goji-flavored beverage to be presented at SupplySide West. The drink is among several applications with beneficial ingredients that are to be featured at Frutarom’s Booth 16048. Mr. Leduc explained that the beverage’s great flavor of Goji is enhanced with Frutarom’s Benolea® and AlinaTM, nutraceutical ingredients that supports cardiovascular health.

Mr. Leduc stated that Benolea is Frutarom’s latest branded ingredient clinically proven to support a beneficial blood pressure range while also effective as a preventative against the metabolic syndrome. Benolea is part of the EFLA® line of botanical extracts, a line which was acquired when Frutarom purchased Emil Flachsmann in 2003. These extracts have long been recognized as top-of-the-line products.

Alina is a patented, new plant source of omega 3-fatty acids from Salvia seed, derived through a natural extraction process. Mr. Leduc pointed out that Salvia seed contains more than 50 percent Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) which belongs to the group of polyunsaturated fatty acids known as PUFAs. “The health benefits of ALA are well documented,” he said, adding that these benefits include a reduction in stroke risk.

Frutarom’s lively presence at SupplySide West promises to be the ideal setting for showing some of the company’s great tasting, healthy applications. “It’s the perfect venue for us to demonstrate Frutarom’s leadership in combining our nutraceutical ingredient expertise with our strong flavor capabilities. We have a passion for bringing taste and good health in ingredients that will help our customers’ launch innovative products for consumers who are looking for healthy solutions but don’t want to compromise the pleasures of great taste.”

Frutarom’s sales and marketing representatives will be available at SSW to provide the clinical data that can support customers’ structure/function claims when they use Frutarom’s beneficial ingredients.
