Each year, MacNut recognizes retailer excellence in Creative Marketing, Superior Consumer Education, Innovative Merchandising and Noteworthy Sales of MacNut Oil relative to the size of the store.
The second annual MacNut™ Oil Retailer of the Year Award was presented March 19th at Expo West in Anaheim, CA. The handsome wooden plaque features a genuine hand painted Australian boomerang, significant because MacNut Oil’s lead product is superior quality, unrefined macadamia nut oil imported from Australia.
Harvest Moon owners Paul and Susan Bennett became aware of the importance of MacNut Oil when they read The Hamptons Diet, the current best-selling book in which author Fred Pescatore, MD recommends the oil as a prime component of an optimal diet. Paul Bennett said, “MacNut Oil is the only cooking oil we use in our home and we love to talk about it.” The Bennetts featured the oil at Harvest Moon in end-cap displays and put it on special at several store events, including their recent Anniversary Sale.
The Bennetts routinely ask customers what they cook with and give out literature showing the health superiority of MacNut Oil over Olive Oil, which does lead to sales, but a taste-sampling helps the most. The Bennetts say that sales continue to build because of a very high rate of repeat purchases and word of mouth.
Harvest Moon is a 2400 sq ft store that has been in business since 1994.
