Healthnotes Launches Version 7.9 of Touchscreen Kiosk Software

Version 7.9 includes new consumer-friendly features designed to offer an extra level of service and quickly answer customers' health-related questions

PORTLAND, Ore.-October 26, 2004-Healthnotes Inc. (HNI), the premier provider of reliable, easy-to-use health, food, and lifestyle information for Web sites and in-store touchscreen kiosks, today announced the release of Version 7.9 of Healthnotes® kiosk applications for supermarkets, pharmacies, and health food stores. The five department-specific applications were designed to help retailers offer consumer-friendly healthy living information and recipes to their customers.

"As consumers become more interested in healthy living, it creates an opportunity for retailers to provide relevant and accurate information to help educate their shoppers and drive sales," stated Skye Lininger, HNI president and CEO. "Healthnotes Version 7.9 is the most comprehensive collection of health and lifestyle information available for every department-pharmacy, whole health, grocery, meat and seafood, and produce."

For Version 7.9, as with every release, the Healthnotes knowledgebase was updated to reflect the latest scientific studies. HNI's research team, led by Chief Medical Editor Dr. Alan Gaby, MD, continuously reviews more than 550 medical journals to keep the information current, factual, and balanced.

In addition, Version 7.9 includes the following new consumer-friendly features and content:

New My Store Printout Message lets retailers add their store name, phone number, address, Web address, and a short message to customers on all article and recipe printouts.

Enhanced attractor loop (dynamic screen saver) that runs when the kiosk is not in use to engage customers and communicate the type of information they'll find on the kiosk.

33 new articles covering vitamins, herbs, health concerns, diets, and foods. The Healthnotes Pharmacy application also includes 83 new patient education monographs.

The 40 most-read health concern articles now open with friendly Article Introductions followed by "Where do I focus?" sections that help customers quickly find the most effective supplements and recommended self-care options.

HNI releases updated versions of the kiosk software products via CD a minimum of two times each year. The biannual update process ensures that the resource is relevant and timely, so that retailers and their customers can confidently depend on the information. For customers with networked kiosks, HNI also offers quarterly updates.

Pricing and Availability

Version 7.9 includes all five department-specific applications: Healthnotes Healthy Living, Healthnotes Pharmacy, Foodnotes® Grocery, Foodnotes Meat & Seafood, and Foodnotes Fresh Produce. The products start shipping to customers early November 2004. Pricing varies depending on the quantity of software subscriptions purchased. Kiosk hardware, including the EasyAnswers Touchscreen family of kiosks, is also available through HNI at an additional charge.
