CHATSWORTH, Calif., Jun 15, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Natrol Inc. (NTOL), a manufacturer and distributor of nationally branded nutritional supplements, announced today that it is upgrading the packaging of all its bottled products with a new heat induction sealing system.

For retailers carrying Natrol and Prolab products, Natrol's change to heat induction foil seals provides longer shelf life through the technology's ability to provide a hermetic seal with a greater oxygen and moisture barrier. Additionally, the more secure nature of the foil seals means fewer packages will be damaged and prematurely unsealed due to the heat experienced during warm weather shipping. Pressure-sensitive liners are known to be less secure at temperatures above 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus, foil induction seals will improve consumer confidence because they are truly tamper-evident.
Customers of Natrol's ingredient and contract manufacturing division, Essentially Pure Ingredients, will experience these benefits as well.
Natrol and Prolab consumers will also experience longer product shelf life and improved product freshness. Plus, Natrol's foil induction seals will include consumer-friendly, twin-pull tabs. Consumers will no longer have to punch through the seal to access the product.
Natrol Vice President of Manufacturing, Dennis Griffin, projects that all Natrol and Prolab products will be converted to heat induction foil seals by September 30. "We're making a significant investment in new equipment and the necessary adjustments to our six existing packaging lines," stated Mr. Griffin.
