Added MEG-3 fish oils
Jigsaw Health has launched two nutrition bars containing Ocean Nutrition Canada's MEG-3. The nutrition bars, Jigsaw Bar — A Healthy Snack, are available in chocolate and coconut almond. Each bar contains 50mg of EPA/DHA from fish oil, and they are the only bars that contain omega-3s and glyconutrients, the company says. They are also gluten-, casein- and trans-fat free.

Native American Natural Foods' Tanka BarAmerican Indian buffalo bar
The new Tanka Bar aims to replicate the flavour of the traditional American Indian food pemmican. Marketed by Native American Natural Foods, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, the bar contains buffalo meat and Wisconsin cranberries.

Phytosterols plus fish oil
Aristo Health, a New Jersey startup company, has launched a line of Aristo wellness bars in three superfruit flavours.?The bars are unique proprietary recipes containing Cognis Nutrition and Health's Heart Choice phytosterols to help lower blood cholesterol, 100mg of omega-3s from Ocean Nutrition Canada's MEG-3 encapsulated fish oil, and high antioxidant levels. The bars are made of 60 per cent organic ingredients and are rich in dietary fibre and milk calcium.

Thinkproducts' think5 barFruit- and vegetable-rich
The new think5 bar from Thinkproducts of California bills itself as the first bar to offer five cups of fruits and vegetables per serving. It contains apples, cranberries, spinach and broccoli, as well as acerola berries, sweet potatoes, brown rice, carrots and alfalfa. The bar, which debuted in January at major US groceries, is also gluten-free and being marketed to sufferers of celiac disease. It comes in two flavours, red berries and chocolate-covered red berries, and has 240 and 290 calories, respectively.

Handmade, plus fatty acids
Healthy-snack maker Wholebake has released a new bar fortified with fatty acids. The Welsh company's Wholebake 9bar contains omega-3s and -6s. The handmade bar is also free from trans fats, artificial flavourings or colourings, wheat and gluten. It is made with 52 per cent whole seeds, hemp — a source of protein — and nine amino acids. They are available in original, nutty, flaxseed and pumpkin varieties.

Pumpkin and onion formula for diabetic patients
Sogo Clinical Pharmacology of Japan has created Kabocha-Onion, a dietary-supplement formula that combines Japanese pumpkins and onions that studies have proven support health in hypertensive and diabetic patients. Corelem, another new product, is an extract of Lentinus edodes mycelia, a fungus culture that provides a therapeutic and preventive effect in liver injury, as well as offers immuno-stimulatory effects.
