Vital Nature Announces Launch of Vital Focus for Kids

LOS ANGELES, Dec 16, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Backed by the largest and most extensive scientific study connecting children's learning difficulties with fatty acid deficiencies, Vital Nature announced today the release of Vital Focus(TM) for Kids (, the industry's newest dietary supplement targeted to improve brain function, learning, concentration, memory and mood.

Comprised of an optimal balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFAs) and vital nutrients, Vital Focus(TM) for Kids provides the necessary nutritional supplementation needed for optimal brain and heart health and overall well-being that the body cannot produce on its own.

"Although the public widely accepts that a wholesome diet can lead to a long healthy life, few people look at the impact nutrition can have on the brain and how the right supplements can help ensure optimal mental performance and well-being," explained Vital Nature CEO Jim Saunders. "With Vital Focus(TM) for Kids, we hope to educate and inspire parents to provide optimal nutrition for their children and to deter the spread of cognitive-related conditions."

Additionally, Vital Focus(TM) for Kids helps support cardiovascular health, improves blood vessel function, reduces cognitive decline, and lowers the risk of age-related macular degeneration.

About 60 percent of the brain consists of fatty tissue(1), half of this being long-chain fatty acids from a marine source (sardines, anchovies and borage) Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acid groups. These 'good fats' are crucial for the structure and function of the billions of nerve cells and connections forming the eye, brain and central nervous system. The human body cannot manufacture EFAs, which is why one must rely on food sources and supplements to guarantee an adequate intake.

Vital Focus(TM) for Kids is a specially formulated supplement for a child's proper brain nourishment and development requirements. It is a unique formulation that combines pure, potent, natural and concentrated Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, as well as other crucial nutrients, including vitamins B12 and B6, folic acid, zinc and magnesium, well-known mood regulators that play a role in facilitating the transport and utilization of oxygen to the brain and balanced neuro-transmitter function.(2) Various surveys have found that many people lack adequate levels of these significant nutrients.(3)

Moreover, Vital Focus(TM) for Kids contains a high level of eicosapentaenoic (EPA) acid, the Omega-3 that plays an important role in "moment-to-moment" brain cell signaling. Vital Focus delivers 180 mg of EPA (per two-capsule dose) through concentrated pharmaceutical-grade fish oil that is high in a triglyceride form, as this is the most natural and absorbable. Taking this highly purified fish oil will also provide Omega-3 DHA, a structural fatty acid that is particularly important for providing on-going cell repair.

Collectively, the formulation delivers the right balance of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals for on-going optimal brain function, and is a safe and convenient way of making sure these significant nutrients are in the diet.

Unique to Vital Focus(TM) for Kids' formulation is its proprietary omega oil extraction process. Compared to conventional methods of extraction, which can result in synthetic forms of fatty acid, VN Filtration(TM) uses low temperatures and gentle processing to crystallize the mono-unsaturated and saturated fatty acids, filtering out these elements and then fractionating the polyunsaturated fatty acids into the various molecular sizes of Omega-3 EFAs. In creating this refining process, only the most desirable part of the oil is retained.

Vital Focus(TM) for Kids is available online at Each bottle contains 60 gel caps and retails for $19.95. For a limited time, consumers can purchase a bottle for $7.95 (the cost of shipping and handling) to trial the product. Vital Nature recommends a daily dosage of six gel capsules per day, three in the morning and three in the evening, taken with food. Parents can expect to see improvements in their child's energy, focus and health within two to four weeks. After 90 days, dosage should be scaled back to two to four gel caps daily.

The fish oil in Vital Focus is pressed from the flesh of sardines and pilchards harvested for their high levels of DHA known as structural fatty acid for cellular membranes. Special care is taken to leave the oil in its most natural bio-available form, so the fatty acids are easily absorbed. The oil is of a pharmaceutical grade, from fish harvested from southern oceans known to have lower pollution levels. Each batch is independently tested and always found to be in full compliance with the stringent European Community and World Health Organization guidelines for levels of polychlorinated bisphenols (PCB) and dioxins.
