Dr. Deshpande, technical vice president of OmniActive Health Technologies, Ltd., has more than 25 years of research experience in the pharmaceutical and nutraceuticals industries, specifically in the areas of biocatalysis, polymer synthesis and drug delivery technologies, as well as analytical validation of ingredients. Dr. Deshpande has more than 15 patents to his credit, has developed time-release delivery systems for several dietary supplements, and has made substantial progress in furthering research on the bioavailability and effectiveness of various micronutrients in humans. Additionally, he has served as study director for the Association of Analytical Communities' (AOAC) International Collaborative Study for lycopene. Speaker: Dr. Thomas Henkel, PhD., CEO and Co-founder

Dr. Thomas Henkel is organic chemist by training and obtained his PhD with Prof. Zeeck at the University of Goettingen, Germany. In the early 90’s he worked with Prof. Vederas in Canada in the area of biochemistry and NMR analytic. In 1992 he joined Bayer as a medicinal chemist, and in 1998 he became director of the Natural Product chemistry department. In 2000 he was promoted to head of the Bayer life science centre, and received “procuration” in 2001. Between 2002 and 2006, he worked as vice president at Bayer HealthCare Pharma Research and Development and was heading the department of enabling technologies responsible for Target ID/validation, bioinformatics, protein biochemistry and natural product lead ID. Dr. Henkel co-founded early 2006 InterMed Discovery, where he serves as the managing director and is responsible for the scientific and strategic direction of the company. Dr. Henkel is author of more than 27 peer reviewed publications and co-inventor of several patents in the field of natural product and bio-chemistry.

Dr . Pedersen is a Naturopath and Biochemist. He has received academic degrees in Geology (BS) and Chemistry (BS) from Brigham Young University, and Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) from the Trinity University, Warsaw Indiana. For over 20 years Dr. Pedersen has worked as a formulator of dietary supplements. In 2003, Mark authored a book entitled, “Phytotonics”. Its subject is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory juice drinks and has been translated into three languages worldwide. Presently he serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards of several of the largest U.S. dietary supplement companies.
